  • Im pretty happy with the team that played in the 2nd T20 apart from Chandimal and Thisara. Chandimal has no reason to even be considered in white ball cricket. Thisara hasnt also done anything for many years now, most matches he is useless. If Dasun Shanaka was available Thisaras place should be permanently gone.

So for the last T20 I would be ok with Karunaratne replacing Chandimal. Its best to replace Chandimal with someone that is experienced, best not to add new young players in a series deciding game. Having Karunaratne at3 and Mathews at 4 could also help in preventing a batting collapse which is what usually happens when the openers are gone. Thisara can be replaced by a proper bowler like Pradeep since I think we need an experienced fast bowler in case Chameera leaks runs.

    Gunathilaka
    Nissanka
    Karunaratne
    Mathews
    Dickwella
    Bandara
    Hasaranga
    Dananjaya
    Chameera
    Sandakan
    Pradeep

  • I think the balance between youth and experience is a bit off with this squad. Would like to see Angelo Mathews replace Oshada. Oshada performed well but I think having the experience of mathews is more important. A definite no from me about Lakshan Sandakan. This player has lacked consistently every since he started and had not improved at all. He is rarely taling any wickets when he plays. Would prefer to see Akila Dananjaya or a fast bowler depending on the conditions.

  • Part of the role of being a coach comes from your expertise. Whether that is having previous coaching experience or having experience playing the game. I feel that players can trust and believe a coach better if the coach has shown talent in playing the sport or shown success in coaching. Pathirana as far as I’m concerned has done zero previous coaching and has not played nearly enough cricket to prove he is worthy of coaching the national side. His recruitment as the spin coach is embarrassing

  • Hope Dasun Shanaka finds a place in the team, I think he will certainly perform better than Thisara Perera. Although Players like Dhammika and Asela are good, its unlikely they will around for the next world cup. Its important to find the youngsters now and give them as many matches as possible for the next few years

  • Already you have removed Dimuth, our captain from the team. You are no better than the idiotic selectors we have in SLC. The last thing this team needs is another captaincy change. Also, after Avishka playing well and getting some confidence in the nimber 3 spot, you decide to change him to an opener. Its these stupid decisions that hurt these young players confidence in the team. Avishka stays at number 3. Dimuth and Perera should stay as the openers. The top should stay like this for a long time:
    Dimuth
    Kusal Perera
    Avishka
    Mendis
    Mathews

SLC needs to decide what to do with players like Thirimanne and DDS. They cant just be added into the team at random positions and expected to perform. Both of these players are top order batsman. Someone that could be suited to bat at number 6 could be Dickwella because I dont think he has the right mental composure to bat at the top, or another newcomer better suited in that position can come in. Players like Thirimanne, DDS, Gunathilaka should all be in the bench until someone in the XI is injured or hasnt been performing for a very long time.

  • Quite a few new faces, which I dont think is a good idea. We must definitely look at these new players, but they need to backed up with experience. Either Lakmal or Pradeep should be in the side, along with either Kumara or Vishwa. I also dont think Kusal Perera and Dickwella should both be playing at the same time. I would prefer Kusal takes the No. 7 spot and Avishka Fernando comes in to play at 4.
