Why didn’t Pathum Nissanka play the premier league?

Pathum Nissanka has bean a consistent performer throughout past few seasons and knocking the door of National Team.  But his opportunity was constantly being denied by Asantha  De Mel lead selection board.it seems he has been omitted from the named preliminary squad for the upcoming Bangladesh tour as well. He used to be an top order batsman for NCC. But this season he didn’t play the premier league and hence Lahiru  Udara excelled him. Is there any particular reason why he didn’t play the tourney.
