  • It’s a wise decision to include both leg spinners (Prabath & Wellalage) in the squad. It was obvious during the Aussie matches, that in Galle wicket, finger spinners are more effective than the wrist spinners. So playing Vandersay will not be a good option. Although both Prabath & Wellalage are left arm orthodox spinners they both have different capabilities. Dunith can generate more turn and he can also be used as a reliable lower order batter as well. So the best team combination for the test will be,

    (1) Dimuth K
    (2) Pathum N
    (3) Kusal M (WK)
    (4) Angelo M
    (5) Chandimal (WK)
    (6) DDS
    (7) Wellalage
    (8) Ramesh M
    (9) Prabath J
    (10) Asitha F
    (11) Kasun R

If they decide to play only one seamer, Mahesh Theekshana can play in place of Kasun Rajitha.

  • This is not sports journalism – it’s pure gossip and trash. Not a fan of Thirimanne, but speculating he’s retiring just when he’s had his best test form in years is pathetic. Articles like this with zero substance or reasoning behind them should not be shared here. And some of the supposed cricketers stated as possible replacements have hardly played any FC cricket or have pretty poor FC records. The official team for the WI test series has not even been released yet by SLC. Literally a trash gossip column written by a 12 year old it seems…

  • I feel, this is the time, we support our young team sri lanka, give them some breathing time to resurrect themselves. Our experts and past cricketers have to give them enough support and advice for them to come good, which they can definitely do it. I think Akilas experience should be considered, as it was very much evident in two new comers in the spin department. It is better to focus in what we have at the moment. Aviska with kusal is a good option for the opening slot going forward.

  • If we don’t get World Cup Super League points by winning in ODIs against SA and in upcoming tours what will the future be like? It won’t be a good future. We have World cups to qualify for. We are getting ahead of ourselves. Forget building for the future and focus on World Cups that are on the horizon! We need the best, most experienced players in form for both world cups.

  • Are they giving these two a hard time because of the contract discussions? Dimuth and Angelo will make our ODI batting more solid and should not be treated like this. Dimuth is our Test captain and I wonder if that will also change because of the way SLC is treating him these days. Right now the ODI side cant last for 50 overs. We need experience.
