Things to do when in Galle, Sri Lanka

If you're headed to Galle he are a few things to do in between the cricket.

Hit the beach
Galle and it's surrounding areas have some nice beaches. Explore them! There are a few little known caves along the beach below the Galle Fort and plenty of gorgeous beach to wander.

Visit Unawatuna beach
Drive further south on Galle Road to Unawatuna. Amazing beach and ask the locals to show you the blow-hole. A few photos here.

Visit the Galle Fort
This old Dutch-built fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Go Whale watching
You'll see plenty of Dolphins too!

Scuba diving
Most of the reef was dead when I was last there but plenty of marine life, including turtles, still around. Oh, the water is warm too! Hikkaduwa Coral Sanctuary is a must!

Check out the Sinharaja Forest Reserve
Hike in an amazing rain forest filled abundant with wildlife.
