  • Just going by the delivery
Just going by the delivery which got Bopara out, he looks a bowler who gets a bit of bounce and has a high arm action, which is something we don’t have atm, although you can’t judge anyone based on one video. The left arm seamer (I think Nilanka Premarathna) looked decent in the clip by the way

  • Ok I will have to clarify few
Ok I will have to clarify few things first I was specifically thinking about test cricket. I agree with stormy that we should look beyond Dilhara IF there is suitable bowlers in testes ie wicket takers, Welegedara has improved a lot but let’s be honest you can’t expect him to be your spearhead can you? Lakmal is a good honest trier sadly nothing beyond that and Dammika Prasad is the only bowler who I think has something about him.Pace along will not win you games, but we don’t have anyone to match Chaminda Vaas’ skill either, but in test matches atleast you need pace, you can’t beat teams if your fastest bowler is struggling to bowl at 135 and that’s why we have never won a test in SA or Australia even with Murali.
and as far as no balls I don’t have any stats to prove but I think after 2007 his no ball/match should be less than Malinga he rarely bowled a no ball recently

And the other point I need to make was this wasn’t written as to suggest Dilhara should be in the team and only look at all the good talent, it was just a reflection on what he could have been and the public viewpoint of him. My view was given that he a role to play in tests at least but it was more of a discussion rather than say to show Dilhara’s pros, thus the world ‘enigma’ and imo he is the classic case of Engima

  • Well we love Malinga to play
Well we love Malinga to play test matches but in no way we can blindly put his retirement as being greedy. Malinga plays IPL yea, and what only IPL. He has rejected as lucrative deals in the new Big Bash league, FPt20 etc. if he was greedy he can easily play more t20 cricket, look at the number of leagues Gayle,Pollard,Nannes,Tait plays in it even includes Zimbabwe when it comes ti Tait and Nannes, where malinga plays in only one.

Malinga has an injury record it’s no rocket science, how many test matches he played before he retired in 2-3 years? It’s not the easiest thing in the world to bowl in flat tracks for 5 days.

And as far as Flower I respect him immensely and to date he is the only cricketer I have an autograph of (which I collected at Crescat when I was 8-10 lol) but he should mind his own business now.His team has many flaws such as playing spin bowling he better address them first before looking at SL

  • Well Ajantha is injured so he
Well Ajantha is injured so he can’t play can he? and Rangana has performed much better than him and Randiv anyway. Chandimal imo anyway is still not ready for test cricket, the struggles against Bollinger and co exposed his weakness which can be overcome of course in the future, with experience no way he should play at no 3 in tests. One player who should be given a go is Kaushal (I know he failed but that is just one test)even as a batsman he has performed well in Fc games (avr. of 46 in 100 games) which includes a majority of A games in England South Africa etc. and has performed well.
It is very unfair to blame a young guy like Thirimanne he has looked solid,I admit there were times he could have scored faster but even great test batsmen like Dravid Chanderpaul Kallis gets the same mistakes sometimes.
I agree with Sulaimaan Thilan is 35 and has struggled in tough tours even in the past, there is no way one can say If Thilan was there he will do brilliantly like you said even Mahela has struggled,I hope Kaushal takes his chance in the 3rd test and scores bug runs and he can be our new no 05,06 believe me he is very good
