  • This is joke article
    This is joke article right?
Even a monkey could work out that as seniors they often have to commence a recovery job and provide a stability to the innings to reach a launching platform. Chandimal has been one of the most consistent performers, and Matthews is probably the most versitile batsman in the line up.

Sri Lanka may bat deep on the cards, but a lot of these batsmen are still gaining experience; if Chandimal and Matthews have to slow the pace a bit in the middle to rebuild that’s fine.

It is absolutely moronic that someone is still trying to find a wat to blame them.

  • What this shows me, is that
What this shows me, is that they are failing to leave the ball on length. It’s easy to spot the line of the ball, and they will prod that 5/6th stump line a lot, but the best thing to do is assess the height of the bounce and let it go past. Even a dead straight ball poses no threat if it bounces over the wicket.
Hales and Bairstow did that well enough even though the rest of England failed. Regardless of who is bowling that’s something to be worked on. Dismal batting display.

  • His technique change clearly
His technique change clearly stunted his development at the top level. He initially came out as a hard hitting confident player, who scored a ton of runs as soon as he came into the side. But as soon as Marvan started trying to ‘correct’ him he didn’t bat well, got dropped, lost form and confidence and so wasn’t developing over that time. Now that he’s gone back to what is his natural style, he’s got the same flair as he first had.

As I said earlier he doesn’t fit the openers slot, but a no.3 that everyone can bat around. Its fine for a no.3 to have a strike rate of 100-120 as long as he’s batting 10+ overs so the team can build the innings around him. Chandimal also has the power to tee off when he wants to.

  • Disagree; Chandimal has got
Disagree; Chandimal has got starts and has looked good recently. the number of 30+ scores are a better indicator of T20 batting than half centuries; clearly by those stats he has been making starts in games. He might not be the quickest scorer but remember he’s had a tough road in 6 years, having his technique changed by Marvan which was a massive mistake. Only recently he’s gone back to his natural style and that has worked. He would be an ideal number 3 as he can anchor the team in an innings.

Agree that Thirrimanne should go, has clearly lost the plot and has to find some runs again.

  • Overall good performance. The
Overall good performance. The run outs were pure fluke and not something to mull over. Nice to see Thisara up the order, Matthews finishing with a great strike rate and hopefully him and Dilshan will end their lean patch. Pace bowlers were great, Kulasekara a little unlucky as he couldn’t bowl fuller to get more swing on this pitch, but Rangana was exemplary. Dilshan might have said that they preferred to go with Milinda on this wicket as he’s a left-handed bowler, but I don’t think he’s up to the task; he doesn’t really do much as a part timer and he tends to get wickets from bad balls that are miss-hit. Catches dropped were a little concerning too, a few of those are expected to be taken at this level. Fielding is clearly a separating factor between associate and full-member teams as Afghanistan showed. Thirrimanne’s performance shouldn’t be looked into too much, he generally bats with a slow start but will then accelerate, and given he top scored in the warm ups today was just a speed bump hopefully.
