Taking the lineup we have at the moment, in case we have to chase a big score I would get Mahela to open with Dili and Thiri to bat at #4. Setting a target I would however still open with Thiri and Dili.

Like I said Kusal coming in at #7 does give him the opportunity to bat during the 3rd powerplay which is usually taken from overs 35-40 but in this case he would face an olderer ball which is going to do less.
I do see Kusal as a long term opener however in these conditions I don’t see him performing consistently.

True but at the same time Sachi hasn’t performed too well in the games he has played this year (4 wickets @ 60). Considering the grounds are quite small in New Zealand compared to Australia and the pitches being fresh we will probably start the tournament with the three seamers. Maybe when we are playing in Sydney for example since it would assist spinners more, we will probably go with two spinners.
