  • Hey Sana hand in your mobile
Hey Sana hand in your mobile phone to the ICC. What are you so afraid of? Yeah not surprised since Sri Lankans will corrupt themselves for money. ICC are now seriously looking at Sri Lankan cricket. I think this is the tip of the iceberg. I think the corruption in Sri Lankan cricket like in Sri Lankan tourism is rife. Because of the big money that is involved in both these areas. As we know big money attracts the worst bunch of Sri Lankans. You got some of the worst sri lankan people and their cronies running Sri Lankan cricket and the even bigger money spinner Sri Lankan tourism now with strong connections to the Sri Lankan underworld and deeply corrupt politicians. Sri Lanka is a pretty sad place with people like these.

  • Fact is England already won
Fact is England already won the series. This fake Sri Lanka side can inflict heavy defeats all they want. But they lost the series. Because they were crap throughout the series and England were excellent. Sri Lanka were crap because they have corrupt greedy people running SL cricket. The fact is having won the series. England probably took their foot off the pedal and got into holiday tourist mode. It is Sri Lanka after all a well liked tourist destination. England probably were not even trying. They probably put out a second or third string side for this game. Whilst the Sri Lankans cricketers and fans were deeply hurting from being thrashed by their former colonial master suddas who once ruled Sri Lankans with a iron fist. Sri Lankans dont like seeing their national side losing to them. But I guess Sri Lankans will now kid themselves that their SL team is fantastic and the corrupt selfish arrogant individuals running Sri Lankan cricket are fanstastic upstanding guys. What a joke SL cricket is. It would have have been better for Sri Lankan cricket long term if England trashed Sri Lanka 5 nil in odis and trashed sri lanka 3 nil in tests. Thats the only way sri lankan cricket will be cleaned up and sri lankan cricket will improve long term going forward.

  • @Delan82 Alastair Cook was
@Delan82 Alastair Cook was an excellent test cricketer ie opening test batsman. But was never suited to limited overs cricket. He himself admitted he disliked playing limited overs cricket. Showed the muddled thinking of England in the last 25 years that they thought just because you are good at test cricket it means your suited to limited overs cricket. Alastair Cook contributed to England being a good test team but was not cut out for the shortened format.

In the early 1990s. Around 1990 to 1992 England did have a good odi side. In the 1992 world cup. They came up with the idea of a pinch hitter in the openning overs. It was revolutionary thinking back then. They used an ageing Ian Botham for the job. They couldn’t find another pinch hitter like him as England did not have fast scoring players except for Botham at the time in 1992 World Cup. They managed to reach the final with those tactics. But a mercurial talented Pakistan side led by Imran Khan managed to knock them over in the final. However Sri Lanka looked closely at what England did in 1992 wc and Ranatunga knew he had better players excellent pinch hitting strikers of the ball than anybody else in world cricket and the Kalu Jayasuriya partnership was born for the 1996 world cup, after they experimented with it in Australia to great success.
What England did with Botham as pinch hitter was adopted and improved upon by Sri Lanka around late 1995. So that was definitely one occasion where Sri Lanka learned from the England side of the early 1990s. As for learning from this England side. I think England are just copying what Sri Lanka did from 1996 to 2011. Also England are copying a bit of Australia did too, but mostly they Sri Lanka’s successful limited overs strategies from 1996 to 2011. So Sri Lanka shouldn’t be learning anything from England. Because England these days is adopting Sri lanka’s own successful strategies. Its upto Sri Lanka to re discover what made them successful between 1996 to 2011 and thought the world a new exciting way to play limited overs cricket which became the Sri lankan way started by Kalu,Jayasuriya, Ranatunga, De Silva,Vaas Mahanama etc in the mid 1990s. Sri Lanka need to rediscover what made them successful in the first place.

  • It takes someone from the old
It takes someone from the old guard. Now a senior who was part of a strong Sri Lankan team from late 1990s and 2000s.Lasith Malinga. To do well against England.I hope Sri Lanka can find the next generation of Lasith Malingas’. Those who run SLC squandered the opportunities to develop Sri Lankan cricket and did not plan for the future and nurture next generation of Sri Lankan cricketers. England have brought over a good limited overs team this time to Sri Lanka well led by Captain Morgan. Sri Lanka will do well not to get humiliated by the England team this series. As some one says. Sri Lanka will need the rain to prevent a one days series loss to England.

  • Yeah way to go Sri Lanka axe
Yeah way to go Sri Lanka axe your best most experienced player who is Angelow Matthews. Sri Lanka’s problem is not of lack of cricketing talent. But the lack of talent on those supposedly running Sri Lankan cricket. I am sure there is probably another Sangakkara, Jayasuriya, De Silva or Jayawardene waiting in the wings from the Sri Lankan school and club system. But we will never know who they are or to be the next cricket stars for Sri Lanka because they are never picked these days. In the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s. Sri Lankan scouts were good at picking from the immense talent Sri Lanka has and the selectors back then quickly promoting them to the team. Players such as Sangakkara, Jayawardene and Matthews. SL needs to go back to the old days and look at what they used to do right. Sri Lanka is badly letting down their supporters in Sri Lanka and around the world these days. Also what happens when Sri Lanka goes to Australia next time? There is a big Sri Lankan community there who have solidly supported Sri lanka they are not going to be happy when Sri Lanka visit there next time. Upto Sri Lanka to shape up before then.

  • He is right about England
He is right about England limited over side these days.THe limited over side is the best in any conditions in decades. The best England team has had since 1991 and 1992. Last time they had a good limited overs side. However Sangakkara is wrong about their test side. Which struggles severely away from England. They have also lost the mercurial Alistair Cook who opens at the top of the order. Who was the rock for England test team in the top order for a decade in any conditions. The England top order is very weak and Anderson and Broad so deadly in English conditions struggle in places like Australia, India and Sri Lanka. Only in South Africa, WI and NZ have England test team performed. So I expect Sri Lanka to win easily the test series. Since I consider South Africa and Australia far better test sides than England in away conditions and Australia and South Africa have struggled in Sri Lanka. I expect England to follow suit. South Africa being my favourite test side in all conditions and they lost in Sri Lanka 2-0. With Australia losing 3-0 in Sri Lanka. 2 years previous.

  • The facts are Sri Lanka had
The facts are Sri Lanka had much better cricketing talent in the 1980s and 1990s even though they didn’t win much for the first 15 years. Arjuna Ranatunga was the lucky beneficiary of a talented Sri Lankan cricket team. However that said, he must get credit for moulding this talent and make the team believe that they can compete on the world stage. The proof was the winning the 1996 world cup by that team. Sri Lanka had a golden opportunity to win another WC and should have either won the 2007 or 2011 world cups with a world beating team. But failed to do so. However I think it would be a good idea for Arjuna Ranatunga to get involved in Sri Lankan cricket right as he is a very smart and tough guy and now as it is on a low ebb and World Cup 2019 just one and half years away. Thats provided he can combine with his shipping ministerial duties.

  • Looks like India has already
Looks like India has already decided its going to Sri Lanka to thrash the living daylights out of Sri Lanka good and proper in Sri Lanka this time.

LOL! Looks like there is no loss between the two Cricket mad South Asian neighbours. This series is going to be really fun to watch. As both South Asian countries absolutely hate losing to each other. The reason is both South Asian nations are very proud of their cricketing prowess and abilities. They both passionately believe they are better than the other on the cricket field. I for one will be watching this cricket series between these two passionate South Asian cricketing nations very closely. Either way its going to be a hell of a riveting cricket series Test and limited overs. May the best team win. I for one will be following this cricket series very closely.

  • That’s good. Because Herath’s
That’s good. Because Herath’s a genuinely good bowler that Sri Lanka have in their bowling attack. I rate Herath very highly. He may be a slow bowler but he is as deadly as a Mithcell Johnson in terms of getting batsman out.
