  • I can see most people have
I can see most people have gone berserk over Kepler’s comments.

But in retrospect, what he said was not utter crap. We couldn’t drag the first test beyond 2.5 days and wasted 2.5.

We were pathetic against aussies in our own backyard and in UAE which catered similar slow/flat conditions.

Considering all those aspects no-one hardly pin-pointed at Kepler when he made those comments, merely because most people had nothing to say against his remarks. Now everyone goes berserk since we’ve won the 2nd test. Mind you consistency is what matters and I hope we won’t make it a one match wonder.

  • Disagree! We need a left arm
Disagree! We need a left arm seamer and with the right arm bowling attack we’ve got it’s pretty hard to trouble RHBs unlike from left arm seamers who can always shape the ball away or bring it back into RHB’s!

Matthews is very much vulnerable to injuries and I don’t want to risk such a high quality batsman to keep him out of the game for good 3 months or more. One other thing is , he is not a bowler who has what it needs to be a high quality test bowler. You should be able to bowl longer spells troubling the batsmen which he is not his strength based on his below par bowling career average of 60+ and injuries.

Lets utilize Matthews to strengthen our batting department, he was in full flow in the first innings playing dashing pulls and drives but unlucky to return a full-toss to the bowler.

No, Chandimal should not bat ahead of Matthews, it’s a waste to push matthews further down the order. He is a guy who can bat longer innings mind you he has a first class double ton.A Batsman who has got a better technique should always bat ahead of others whom you surpass relatively, in that case Matthews must bat ahead of Chandi. Chandi’s role is pretty clear at number 7 and he can surely bat up the order once some of our seniors retire.

If there’s someone to get dropped, it’s Thissara and wish we could have someone like Prasad for his place. Thissara cannot be utilized as a batsman in these conditions considering his batting technique and approach.

  • @ Peter
    Hold on, Lets say he

    @ Peter

Hold on, Lets say he was allowed to bat anywhere he wanted in that test match and mind you it was one of the flattest test wickets in the history of the game.An absolute road and such wickets only lets the quality of the game propagate in the wrong direction. Lets say he scored a double ton, or maybe a triple on that wicket and how would that have helped him out to sort out the difficulties he currently faces like seaming and swinging away deliveries & unexpected bounce related technical issues??? The truth is Mahela never improved his game he is still pretty much the same player who entered the international stage more than 14 years ago.If you don’t go through continuous improvement stages with respect to the technique and approach you can hardly be successful. Best example is Thilan, who was labelled pretty much same as mahela was, “SSC Bully or a Flat Track Bully” but he worked hard to remove technical & approach associated barriers to become one of the finest test players of our history having the ability to bat in any condition.

Tendulkar was not given the place to bat on his choice, he had to earn it by scoring centuries around the world at a very young age unlike mahela’s heroics on flat SSC wicket……….

  • @ Hilal regarding players
    @ Hilal regarding players complaints.

Well Can’t really accept Mahelas lamentations over kettharama pitch. We all know how t he loves dead flat absobloodylute roads to bat. It all came up when mahela struggled to score 30+ runs in lot of deliveries and Samaraweera who played as the number 5 batsman in the same game scored 59 of 60.Every other player in present squad played alright on that wicket except Mahela who keeps on whining about pitches. Even Sanath played very well on Premadasa track. Yes the pitch might be challenging with the bulli getting messed up with rain and other stuff before final touches. But its not for the softies who want all pitches to be somewhat similar to FLAT SSC wickets.
