  • I disagree with Aravinda
I disagree with Aravinda here. Please don’t agree with someone just because he/she has a big name. I would go with the facts. Ara is great in his area of expertise, but what does he know of judging expert/QUALIFIED physio’s work and his call on Malinga’s need for rest?

Simsek is trying to protect our best bowling weapon for the most important tournament of all. Going by Malinga’s injury history and if not for Pres. Mahinda’s timely intervention and Dr. White’s treament methods, we would have seen the last of this great bowler back in 2007 WC!
Its a very dangerous risk to toy with Malinga’s injury and play him in test matches with the world cup around the corner.
Just because Ara cannot find two decent pace bowlers to take wickets in tests (other than Malinga), it is not Simsek’s fault, is it?

After we lost the greatest physio we had, Alex Kantori, for the Australians, we were being served by some local pysio for awhile when Murali and many of our major bowlers were missing matches with injuries. That is when we acquired Simsek and his presence was felt in no time, when our players injury waits were able to cut short and in most cases make them play with the injuries. I do not have specific examples to bring in here in support of Simsek, but I remember Murali making some good comments about this guy.

Good teams like Australia and India always rest their star players (thus, it is being shown thru their results), so why cannot SL do that for our one and only hit man, Malinga?

Aravinda should know better to pick a winning team from what is available for him. He knows if we loses these tests it is his selection criteria that comes into question, therefore he wants Malinga to play risking his career. Give me a break Ara!, we were not born yesterday, mate! Ara’s comment is absurd, and very selfish so to speak!

If he so cared of our team performance, but not of shining his selection performances, then he should go around and SCOUT some good talent for our national team. He even omitted our second best fast bowler – Dilhara from test selection.
