  • This is a bogus article.
This is a bogus article. Mahela have not said anything like that. Read the actual article in Divaina. This “CricketAge” site is writing lies to promote a politically motivated agenda. People should avoid these kind of shit media. Street walkers have more dignity than people who write these stuff.

  • Ok let’s get something
Ok let’s get something straight. Malinga is a champion bowler, he is arguably the best death bowler in our generation. Period.

This argument about captaincy is quite a naive one. Malinga is the worst captain after 96. His win/loss ratio is appalling. Yes his death over strategy in the world cup worked brilliantly courtesy himself, Kula and Sachi. But anyone who watched that tournament knows that last few matches were captained by Mahela.

This argument that he lead us to the world cup is far from the truth. Sri Lanka was No.1 until he took over the captaincy (When Chandimal was captain), when he gave the team back SL were No.7 in the rankings. Enough said.

  • We have a really good bowling
We have a really good bowling attack for sure. They have done well in patches when they have managed to keep themselves fit. But there is a faair way to go before you call it the best attack. The biggest thing is they should be able to keep fit. As far as I can remember, this is the first time the whole fast bowling unit is fit to play. So, that’s a start. Lot of potential is there, but there is plenty to prove.

  • This is just a stupid joke.
This is just a stupid joke.

Before requesting for this, there is one thing Arjuna should do to prove his honesty. Go and request a fair investigation into the corruption charges leveled against Nishantha Ranathunga. After it is done, let’s take it from there.

This is cry baby stuff, you loose an election and then you request the presidency by overthrowing the board elected. Ha haaaaa and I say again Ha.

But this is possible. After all this is the country where people who were rejected in the election by the people are parliamentarians. In the end jokes on us as always.

  • Look, Tharanga was dropped to
Look, Tharanga was dropped to give chance to Kusal. That was extremely wrong. He didn’t do much wrong leading up to that and even he performed very well in that series in the middle order. He should have never been dropped. Not because he is the best batsman in the world, but he did fairly well for SL during his time as an opener and he didn’t do much wrong to be dropped.

But here we are talking about another player, and it has nothing to do with the injustice that happened to Tharanga.

  • To the point.
    @BCCSL – Kapu

    To the point.

@BCCSL – Kapu really? He is probably the biggest disappointment in SL cricket so far. Russel even said that he was dropped to accommodate Kapu for the future. He needs to perform at least now as an experienced player in the side.

Yes Kithruwan and Ashan should be given more chances, but not at the expense of our current best batsman. There are enough non-performers in this side.

When it comes to chances. I know both Thiri and Chandimal had a bad series. But they were given the opportunity because they earned it by out scoring others in Australia, ENG and SA when other couldn’t.

@delan82- I agree with you. Yes he is at the moment better suited to Test and ODI. But for me, it seems like we are short of options. So either Chandimal need to expand his game to suit T20 like what Sanga did or we have to look for a better player to replace him. It is certainly not his format at the moment.

  • @SeeThrough – The stats and
@SeeThrough – The stats and the facts are there to see. If you are going to counter argue against a newly setup batting pair who have recorded 2nd highest number of runs and batted highest number of overs in a calender year, then you are doing the same thing as the people who are saying Murali is not a good bowler because he has wickets against Bangladesh and Sanga is not as good as others because he has runs against against Bangladesh. Different conditions pose a different challenge. So does test and ODI cricket. There is a big difference. You just have to look at ENG and IND.

This is not to say that Tharanga is not being hard done. I do not think Kusal should have been drafted in for him in the first place after few failures. As I have iterated in almost all the comments. He should have been in the ODI side throughout. He has more than 13 ODI centuries and he is one of our most experienced players. I actually thought he was a ODI captain for the future when Sanga retired. And I am all for him being in the WC squad.

But if you are suggested that he should be drafted in for the test side ahead of one of the most promising young opening stands in the world and this opening stand should be disturbed to make it look like our opening stand in ODIs,(FYI this is the exactly the same blunt selectors did when they drafted in Kusal for Tharanga when we had a very solid opening stand for ODIs. Now they are telling us there is a problem with the opening stand as if we had anything to do with it.) Then you are asking the selectors to do the same mistake they did couple of years ago.
