  • that was a rather nice take
that was a rather nice take on the whole incident 🙂 but ah those two dismissals…they still rankle, don’t they? well the second more so than the first maybe, coz that was a weird freak incident wasn’t it and..well it was disappointing, but…the second..now that was infuriating, that was heartbreaking, that was-it was just plain mean! 😀 i’m afraid my image of Brendon will be forever tainted by that!

and you know my problem with the whole ‘it was only a few steps’ thing is, as irrelevant as it is, that yes, in that particular instance he’d taken only a few steps, but what is to say he was not going to or wouldn’t have taken a few more than ‘a few steps’ as the innings went on had we, played within the so-called ‘spirit’, and not done that?? and as for the ‘spirit of the game’, i’m sorry, i thought we covered that when we gave him not one, but TWO warnings!

  • You had me looking like a bit
You had me looking like a bit of an idiot shouting ‘Exactly!’ at my computer screen a couple of times there!

Honestly, how different is Thirimanne’s appointment to Chandimal’s? When Dinesh was first appointed, it had me worried that thrusting him the captaincy then, was doing unto him what was done to Mahela in ’99-you’d think they’d have leant their lesson then..but no..you think they’ll have learnt it now, but oh no no..that’s much too much to expect of our officials!

And i don’t understand how Angelo Perera could make it into an almost full-strength squad to Bangladesh and then find himself excluded from a virtually second-string squad a couple of months later, having done nothing much wrong in the time between…I mean don’t get me wrong, i think the squad to Ireland looks good, it’s nice to see Niroshan Dickwella make it in and really good to see Tharanga back, i do hope he makes it stick this time, but i do not understand Angelo’s exclusion.

As for the Farbrace issue, thing is SLC probably deserved it… for Geoff (yes, I’m still not over that!) and all their bungling of everything else, they probably deserved it, karmic justice and what-not…but the team, the players, the fan-‘Sri Lanka cricket’, with a de-capitalised ‘c’ however…did not, did we?

  • hey you guys,
hey you guys, thanks…@UppercuT,@MyTwoCents I know, I know..I hear what you are saying about ’07, and once the emotion is removed, the sensible person in me might even agree given half a chance, but the irrational fan inside refuses to allow it…it’s an affliction, I tell you, sometimes…this fanaticism..robs you of all reasonable thought every now and again!

  • Hey guys…thanks! 🙂
    and

    Hey guys…thanks! 🙂

and avinray,my wits are still about me…I think 😉 but no you’re right…the whole infighting theory does ring true up to extent, coz afterall how far can administrative blunders and bad captaincy alone explain the depths we fell to…?
Oh and as I’m sure my posts prove……I tend to drift abit myself and keeping it short isn’t one of my strong points either, so no worries! 🙂

  • @Dilshan: while it maybe ‘da
@Dilshan: while it maybe ‘da way its done here’,that still doesn’t make it right, and you say there is nothing we can do about it,but passively accepting it as a fact isn’t going to change anything either! and honestly just because a person leaves the country does not mean his love for the country, game or team diminishes in any sense!

and as you seem more interested in what the players do ‘after’ they come into the team, let me just point out that since the hundred you speak of,sanath has scored just one more in 29 matches, while tharanga has averaged almost 42 in that same time period! and in trying to mock tharanga as our ‘unsung hero’ you demonstrate the very reason he IS one,as you have so easily forgotten the hundreds he scored, and talk only of the time he failed!

  • Oh no,don’t get me wrong,I
Oh no,don’t get me wrong,I was by no means implying that he needed to prove himself or questioning his ability, if you ask me I think he should have definitely been in that world cup squad-not just the squad, but the team too, he would have been a far better bet than some others I think!! If we are looking to the future, he’s certainly the right choice, all I meant was that we don’t wanna push him into the deep end first up now do we??

As for the rest…itworries me as to why Tom pulled out…anyway appears to me that no matter where we turn it’s troubled waters from here on in…here’s hoping we somehow weather the storm and make it through!!

  • Couldn’t agree more with you
Couldn’t agree more with you about the captaincy issue, but would like to see dinesh first make a place for himself in the team before the vice-captaincy is thrust on him…would personally love to see tom and trevor back at the helm too,but hear thats not to be…:/ (trevor penney that is not bayliss!).
