    @lolstat thank you ruwan ,yes i understand you concerns , GDP and population is too small to afford a IPL kind of tournament . hence we should study the south African domestic T20 model .on the other hand government and sport ministry should support SLC. Cricket is the only thing that make positive headlines about srilanka in western news papers and tvs. Cricket helps to promote srilankan brands , tourism in international media . so it’s not just another sport , cricket is a heritage of srilanka. Government should understand this and help .
    previous government organized a cash rich rugby tournament with the help of the state companies like MOBITEL , TELECOM,SL AIR LINE ,. High class rugby players played in that tournament, we all know that sri lanka doesn’t play rugby at the top international level . . domestic companies invested millions to buy those franchises (keels, etc). hence I believe that potential is there as president of the SLC is deputy speaker of the parliament , we just need the will

    Has sanath jayasuriya justified his appointment as the chief selector ?
    Just days prior to the world cup ,sports minister and cricket authorities dissolved the cricket selection committee and appointed a new committee and aravindada silva was appointed as the chief of the committee. T20 world cup was a bitter experience for players , selectors as well the cricket hierarchy. Just after the world cup aravindada silva rejected to continue on his roll sighting his business commitments .sangakkara too rejected to continue his roll as a selector hence SLC was forced to appoint another committee. sport minister gave his recommendation to appoint another committee in the last week and sanath was appointed as head of the committee. sanath served as the chief selector year ago , but his service came to an abrupt end after the 2015 world cup debacle .
    Selection committee has named the test squad for England tour. surprisingly Thirimanna as well as dasun shanaka managed to find places in the team .thirimanna’s selection despite his poor display in the recent past has raised the eyebrows of many cricket fans . thirimanna has done nothing special to take back his place . but it seems that sanath and co still have a huge trust on him .
    Dasun shanaka was brought in to the side as an limited over hitter , now he has been selected to test squad . this will be his first international tour to the northern hemisphere . hence playing against the seam and swing would be a huge challenge for him . lot of them think that experience player would have been handy in the winter climate instead of dasun shanaka.sanath made an identical move in the 2014 england tour . thisara was selected to play in one of the test match , but that move was an utter failure as thisara came under heavy criticism for his aggressive batting style in that test match
    On the other hand ,Lahiru milantha and roshen chanaka were not named to the tour in spite of of their good form in the domestic matches .
    We still don’t know the exact reasons behind the selection process .hence it’s not fair to criticize selection committee without giving them some time to build a settle squad .we all wish that this tour would be good turnaround for the team as we all srilankans love to see the team on the victorious side .
