Awwwesome Stuff!I’m really excited to see Tremendous Chaminda Vaas back on the field. He truely deserves it after showing what he has got both on sub continent slow wickets during the IPL and on English Seaming & Swinging Wickets.

But What about Sanath Jayasuriya???? Appalling decision by the hierarchy!I feel really sorry for the likes of Chandimal & Tharanga.
I’m pretty sure Santh would play at least the 1st round matches in the world cup so lets face it.

IMO if Jayasuriya is gonna get a chance, Jeewantha Kulathunge deserve dozens of chances irrespective of his age. People who are eagerly waiting to see Sanath back on the field are analogous to people waiting to see Sri Lankas poor performances.

  • TBH, when looking back at
TBH, when looking back at todays match I really do not believe in opening innings with mahela as a feasible option unless someone wants to satisfy his needs rather than what the team wants. Just because we won todays match from two special knocks of two batsmen, we should not let these issues go unnoticed.

Look,Mahela scored 39 of 67 at a SR of 58 which is well below par the rate we expected him to score. Upul Tharanga has been doing the same job as mahela did today, infact he might have done it better. The purpose of sending Mahela as an opener is to get a quick firing start and not to waste him as a middle order batsman. SR of 58 as an opener in this sort of a final is totally unacceptable. If this is what SLC wants to have someone who can play a supporting role to Dilshan it should be Upul tharanga but not Mahela. Upul can only bat as an opener and has performed outstandingly in the recent past averaging over 35 as an opener. On the other hand Mahela is trying to find a comfortable place for him which is the opening slot leaving a dearth in the middle order. His experience is really valuable in the middle. Usually Well experienced players drop down the order to send youngsters up the order to play their natural shots when the fielders are within the circle just like Arjuna and Aravinda did so that they can use their experience in the middle which is not happening today with Mahela. If Mahela finds hard to get adjusted as a middle order batsman , he has to work hard to overcome his issues rather than just letting someone else who has been doing well as an opener to sacrifice his spot.

If Mahela is going to bat as slow as he did today, there won’t be any feasible point in sending him as an opener since Tharanga is a specialist in that particular role. Mahela must bat at number 3 and Sanga should be at 4 doing what he did today. If they really want to play Mahela as an opener then it’s quite stupid to play tharanga as a middle order batsman . I was really confused about Tharangas role today. Kapuegedara got enough chances and Chandimal has to be brought back.

    My batting order would be

Dilshan, Tharanga, Mahela , Sanga, Thilan/Silva ( I would go for thilan), Chandimal, Matthews, Thisara ,Randiv , Kulasekara, Malinga

If Mahela is going to continue as an opener then no point in playing tharanga, Instead of him Chandimal should be brought to the middle order making way for an extra player be it Murali or jeewan Mendis.

If they want to play two spinners, they can get rid of one of the quickies (kulasekara) and choose murali, else carry on with the present setup.

As Sanga hinted I expect to see Chandimal playing for us in the near future.

    Are u calling Lankans

    @ Swati

Are u calling Lankans as cheaters? It’s an ideal word to address the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid the SO CALLED PAIR OF GENTLEMEN in indian cricket that got involved in shameful ball tampering incidents. That’s what I call as cheating!
