I think this is a problem created by our own think tank. No 3 position is best suited for a technically perfect batter who can increase the SR by a good placement technique to score more boundaries than sixes during PP overs (Kumar/ Mahea are good examples) Why did we play Bhanuka at no 3 ? Isn’t it a foolish decision ? Bhanuka’s best position is 4 or 5. During the first 6/10 overs when the new ball has more shine and can offer more swing, only a handful of batters around the world can be aggressive (to score sixes during the PP). Chandimal is a good proposal for no 3 but our think tank has given him a chance and has told him at the same time to increase his SR from 90+ to 130+. That’s not correct. This way we cannot develop a no 3 player. I still feel Asalanka & DDS should be trained for this place Cos their 6s hitting ratio is not that high. They increase their SR purely by hinting boundaries. Even Dhanushka is ma good proposal (in future). My proposal now is to Keep Chandi as a
According to me world cup batting order is already sorted out after oman tour. With Avishka solving the middle order problem and bhanuka promising to play properly at no5
and Charith almost succeeded as no 3. but unluckily got out. more chances will let him settle down there also,
so the only question here’s, DDS has been announced as Vice captain where will he play?
This is also my question. In two warm up matches as both DDS and Asalanka will play we can judge who will be most suitable for the no 3 position. Dont forget that the selectors have also included Pathum in the squad. May be to play at no 3 as an anchor role batter. So there will be 3 options Asalanka, DDS and Pathum.

My proposal now is to Keep Chandi as an aggressive opener (he is the best out of other top order batters in scorning sixes) and play Asalanka at no 3. I think Asalanka is a much better player than DDS for T20 format.
I agree. I think Charith is one of the best rotators of strike in our squad, and we need someone that can keep things ticking along so the likes of Avishka, Bhanuka and Captain Dassa can play around him.
Exactly correct. What I heard is Mahela has given lot of good advice to our think tank about changing the batting order. All these last two months in SL our practises were conducted without any proper guidance. This is a good example to get rid of every foreign coaches and appoint our legendary and intelligent cricketers like Kumar and Mahela to train our young team & convert them into world beaters (SLC can do that after the WC as our next target is 2022 ODI WC. I am surethat Mahela will provide some innovative ideas within the next couple of weeks to improve our batters performances.
Yes. Mahela = Legend! Got so much experience in the IPL as well, managing big players. I’m sure he will have a massive impact on this team.
