Finch nursing side injury ahead of T20 opener Australia skipper confident he’ll be fit for first

Captain Aaron Finch is battling a side injury but is confident he’ll be fit for the start of Australia’s Gillette T20 International series against Sri Lanka next week.

Finch is in Perth with Victoria this week but was ruled out of their current Marsh Sheffield Shield game at the WACA Ground due to a side strain, a week after he missed part of their match against South Australia due to back spasms.

  1. Finch’s fitness will be a major issue for Aussies as he is the most powerful hitter of their T 20 team. He has an astonishing av SR of 174%, and has the highest sixes percentage of 35% so if he is not fit for the first T20 match it will be a good situation for SL.
However we have to target to get both Finch & Maxwell early in the inning. If they score big in staying at the wkt for a long period they will do enough damage to SL in taking the match away from us.
