He certainly loved to hook and was good at it too. I think he reached his maiden 100 by hooking Imran Khan for 6 but I could be wrong. He also hooked Kapil Dev’s first ball in a test match for 6 – it was a second innings chase in which we opened with Aravinda and Duleep Mendis, another noted wild hooker.
