Wayamba United, led by Mahela Jayawardene, beat Uva Next by 20 runs today at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in the seventh match of the Sri Lanka Premier League.
After winning the toss, Uva captain Thilina Kandamby asked Wayamba to bat first on a track that helped seamers.
Wayamba did well to finish with 147/9 in their 20 overs after finding themselves at 44/4 in the sixth over.
Although the wicket was more batsman-friendly in the second half of the game, Uva was unable to string together a partnership during their run-chase. They were eventually all out in the 19th over – 20 runs shy of their target.
Chathuranga Kumara, 20, of Uva was picked as the man of the match.
