Kumar Sangakkara has named Kusal Mendis and Lakshan Sandakan as two players from Sri Lanka to watch out for at the Champions Trophy in June.
The 22-year-old Mendis has fast-become Sri Lanka's preferred number-three and has scored a century and nine half-centuries in his short 25-match ODI career, while left-arm wrist-spinner Sandakan is still finding his feet and has played fewer ODIs (6) but possesses a wrong 'un Sri Lanka are banking on to trouble opposition batsmen.
"Kusal Mendis has been really good for us and he's a guy to keep an eye on," Sangakkara told Sky Sports in a recent interview. "We also have some young spinners coming through, especially Lakshan Sandakan, the chinaman bowler.
"We have a strong, balanced squad and hopefully we'll do very well."
Sangakkara also said the surfaces on offer in England will assist spinners as the Champions Trophy progresses.
"Sri Lanka are my personal favourites; they will compete," he added. "It's a young side and we'll have to wait and see how well they play."
