May 21, 2010 (islandcricket.lk): Former Sri Lankan skipper, Mahela Jayawardene, said on Wednesday that being in the USA was a first for several players in the Sri Lankan side, and the team was excited to be in Florida.
"Miami is a new place for all of us. Most of the guys haven’t been to states so had a look around and went to a couple of Baseball games," Jayawardene said.
Speaking to NZC about playing cricket in the US, Jayawardene said that it was good exposure and a great experience for the new players in the squad.
"It looks a very decent venue and hopefully there will be a good turn around," he added.
Sri Lanka play New Zealand at the Broward County Regional Park in Lauderhill, Florida on May 22nd and 23rd. This is the first time an International Cricket Council approved international cricket fixture will be played on US soil.
