Sri Lanka hand India number one Test rankings with innings defeat

Sri Lanka ended yet another disappointing Test tour to India with an innings defeat in the third and final Cricket Test in Mumbai.

A lot rested on Sangakkara’s shoulders on the fifth morning, but the damage had been done when Sri Lanka’s middle order capitulated on a wearing day four pitch which spun and bounced considerably.

Sangakkara was the first to fall this morning when he was caught behind of Zaheer Khan in the very first over of the day.

India are now the number one ranked Test team in the ICC Test Cricket rankings.

India win by an innings and 24 runs. Series: India 2-0.
