During a press conference earlier today, Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene announced Sri Lanka’s final line-up that will take the field for the first Test against Australia in Hobart on Friday.
After making a half-century in his debut Test, in the series against New Zealand last month, Dimuth Karunaratne, 24, has earned the confidence of the Sri Lankan camp and will replace opener Tharanga Paranavitana.
Sri Lanka will go into the first Test with just one spinner — Rangana Herath.
Chanaka Welegedera makes a comeback to the side after being sidelined due to an injury. He last played a Test for Sri Lanka in March.
Sri Lanka XI: Tillakaratne Dilshan, Dimuth Karunaratne, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Thilan Samaraweera, Angelo Mathews, Prasanna Jayawardene, Nuwan Kulasekara, Chanaka Welegedera, Shaminda Eranga, Rangana Herath.
