Jayawardene and Sangakkara have a miserable inter-provincial tournament


Feb-20-2010, (Island Cricket): The 2010 Inter-Provincial Limited Over Cricket tournament in Sri Lanka is drawing to a close with just the final left to be played out on the 21st of February.

Two of Sri Lanka’s most experienced ODI batsmen, Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, have had a miserable tournament.

Jayawardene averaged 16.16 with a highest score of 34 from a tournament total of just 97 runs.

Sangakkara has just one match left to better his tournament average of 19.00 from 5 matches, the Sri Lankan skipper’s highest score thus far has been a paltry 45.

All-Rounder Kaushalya Weeraratne was the tournament’s highest run scorer.
