Virendra Sehwag beat his previous highest ODI score of 130 by some margin to take India to an astonishing 414/7.
Together with opening partner, Saching Tendulkar, the duo piled on 153 runs for the first wicket. Sehwag’s century came in just 66 balls. Tendulkar was eventually clean bowled for 69 by a 142 KM/H in-swinger from Dilhara Fernando.
At the end of 30 overs India were 261/1 and at the end of over 35 they surpassed 300. At the time 500 runs looked highly probable.
India finished on a 414/7 which is their highest ever ODI score. India’s previoust highest was 413 against Bermuda at the 2007 World Cup.
