Hosts Bangladesh scored 20 runs in the final over to boost their total to 260/7 in the first match of the Tri-Nation Tournament.
Highest scorer of the innings, Bangladeshi skipper Mohammad Ashraful gave the home side the much needed impetus. Naeem Islam’s 22 off just nine balls, however, took the hosts from a below par score to a competitive one.
Suranga Lakmal’s final over was taken for 20 runs and Sri Lanka’s spinners also proved to be costly. The four spinners on show Randiv, Pushpakumara, Dilshan and Kandamby conceded 109 runs between them.
