That’s a great news for cricket fans. According to the current status of our ODI team performing in SA, I believe that the team leadership is a big issue. We all saw that from the very ordinary performance of our team in the first match and there are reports saying that the ODI team did not demonstrate the same kind of team spirit as our test team. If Mathews is now fit to play it will be a good idea to bring him for the 4th and 5th matches noting that there wont be any more ODI’s after this series for Mathews to gain some match practice. Other problem is the brittleness of our lower middle order which was one of the reasons for our defeat. There has to be an anchor man like Mathews to stabilize our batting. He has performed exceptionally well on this aspect during the last 3 yrs achieving the highest average, while maintaining a high SR and that will help the no 6,7, batters to attack the bowling.
Good news. I agree with Susantha. Need to get him some match fitness so he is ready to go for World Cup where he will be invaluable in those English conditions
