Despite Sri Lanka going with two leg spinners in the team, they have not engaged a spin bowling coach for the team.
“We don’t have a spin bowling coach on the tour but we have two coaches in Colombo (High Performance Centre) and they constantly communicate with us. Also our team coaches are experienced so they do help a lot too. We always communicate with the coaches after and before matches.” said Sandakan. “We have requested for a spin bowling coach so we are hopeful we will get one soon,” added Sandakan.
“Me , Wanidu (Hasaranga) and other spinners trained hard after the World Cup. We had Ajith Ekanayake and Piyal Wijetunga as spin bowling coaches but we don’t have their services now. But we work hard with Dinuk Hettiarachchi and Sajeewa Weerakoon. We discuss a lot about tactics of how to get batsmen out these days.” said Sandakan.
