Sri Lanka Cricket rewarded and recognized 26 players of the U19 squad, currently undergoing training focusing on the upcoming Inbound Tours, U19 Asia Cup, and the U19 World Cup.
The players were given financial assistance of LKR 100,000 each for the commitment shown for the game by the youngsters since identifying them through an Island-wide Talent Hunt Program conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket.
’During our playing era, we did not have adequate cricketing facilities and playing opportunities to enhance our game. However, things have changed now, as Sri Lanka Cricket is working tirelessly to provide the best of facilities for the cricketers to prosper and progress to the next level,’’ said Mr. Ravin Wickramaratne, Vice President of Sri Lanka Cricket, whilst handing over the monetary recognition to the players.
The 26 players, who were recognized, completed a 22 Day Residential Training Camp yesterday, (29th September) which was held at the SSC Colombo in a Bio-Bubble Environment.
The Junior National Selectors selected the 26 member squad out of the 75 players, selected via an Island-wide Talent Profiling Program conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket.
