Although it’s still a far cry to the ICC WORLD CUP 2019 in UK with three overseas tours in between, it’s imperative that Thisara Perera and Dasun Shanaka should be carefully nurtured till such time. The reason being that they are the two players who can turn the tables and bring glory to Sri Lanka, since the country is sailing like a rudderless ship in troubled waters. Hathurusinghe and Co should have a long term strategy till the World Cup 2019 to judiciously sustain these two players. They have 3 ODI’S and a T20 in New Zealand, probably 3 ODI’S and 2 T20’s in South Africa and 8 odi’s in the up and coming World Cup. All in all these two players will have to play in 14 ODI’s in conditions similar to U.K. and in New Zealand and less so in South Africa.
