Sri Lanka fielding coach Steve Rixon has described Kusal Mendis as a batsman who will make people go ‘wow’ the more they see of him. Rixon, who has had coaching stints with New Zealand and Pakistan earlier, was full of praise for the Sri Lankan team for the manner of their historic 2-0 series win in South Africa.

Dear Steve yeah true when he plays true to his excellent talent it’s Wow, U saw only one inning we saw few including a classy 160 or 170 against Aussie in Sri Lanka. We will love cheer speak well of any cricketer as long as he performs. It’s like a job a person can be a Highly talented brilliant worker but when continues to fail will the employer still keep him in that position. So people forget playing for your country it’s a duty more than a job but when you keep failing naturally he should be given a break in other words dropping. It does not mean end of the road.Social media went after he him why? Cause he failed in 11 innings too much to swallow. He could be extremely talented with perfect technic but when he looses confidence he needs a break like Dinesh Chandimal he himself is lovely talented perfect batsman but have lost his confidence. Kusal M was very lucky as Coach thought he must play even if he fails in all three fields so Coach is to be blame for pushing KM to strstruggle so much in the past .But he came good i believe it’s Thanks to confident Oshada Fernando. he bats just like KM excellent brilliant technically perfect batsman .His confidence his excellent application attack and defence and dictating the top bowlers made KM discover his own brilliant stroke play .i am saying this with responsiblity if not for OF confidence play KM would not may not have discovered his famouse stroke play. So hope KM will continue discovered his famouse brilliant stroke play .Also let me conclude my comment’s by requesting All concerned look after the way you looked after Oshada Fernando like Kusal Mendis. Mark my word if OF(Oshada fernando) if he continues the style the application the confidence he will be a big hit if not the World’s Best Batsmen pretty soon.so all the Very Best to Sri Lanka No 3 and No 4 look after them equally our batting woes will be over they may be another Kumar & Mahela i honestly believe it
Kusal Mendis should never miss a match. Shame on Labbaroy and Hathurusingha for dropping him for India tour. With age he will only get wiser and better and break more records. Mendis should play nonstop and gain as much experience in all conditions.
I don’t get why people are still going on about Kusal Mendis failing – only Kholi scored more runs than Mendis last year and he got a couple of hundreds away from home. I am not sure any other SL batter did that yet there is this crazy notion that Mendis failed.
Agreed he has a shot selection issue but it’s not something he is going to address sitting on the bench. For me Mendis must play all forms of cricket. We don’t have a lot of batting talent so lets look after the one that is showing some promise.
