Kane Williamson said the way Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne batted patiently for 122 showed the New Zealanders how batting needed to be approached in Galle.
“Personally I was looking to be a little bit too positive when it wasn’t really required. In hindsight that wouldn’t have been the option,” he said.
“It wasn’t to be, and the guys who were a much more patient were a lot more successful. There’s a lot for all of us to learn from,” Williamson added.
