Strict Sri Lankan quarantine rules put England tour in doubt

The ECB will not allow England to tour Sri Lanka in January unless the government there relaxes its rigid quarantine rules amid fears for the players’ mental health.

Under the present Covid-19 regulations in Sri Lanka, the England players would be required to isolate for 14 days in a hotel on arrival in the country.

Bangladesh recently cancelled their forthcoming tour because the Sri Lankan government would not agree to an exception to its rules, by allowing players to train within a biosecure bubble during their period of quarantine — as was the case when West Indies, Pakistan and Australia toured England this summer…
