Sri Lanka fast bowler Suranga Lakmal has lamented the banning of use of saliva to polish cricket balls by the International Cricket Council. Not the quickest among Sri Lankan bowlers, Lakmal relies heavily on swinging the ball and the ban on use of saliva after the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic is expected to affect him severely.
“It’s a batsman’s game and everything is favoured towards the batsmen and the ban of use of saliva will further affect fast bowlers,” Lakmal told The Papare.com in a video interaction
“Having said that, we have got to realize that COVID-19 is creating havoc in peoples lives and we need to follow all instructions the health authorities are giving us. So I am fine with it but the fact remains that the fast bowlers will suffer due to the new directive,” Lakmal explained.
