Sri Lanka shaded by ninth-string New Zealand side in unconvincing test leadup

Whether much can be gleaned from a low-key warmup match is debatable, but Sri Lanka will hardly be turning cartwheels after their three days in Napier. A fresh-faced New Zealand XI – the ninth-strongest side in the country – had the better of the drawn tour match as they ended 139-2 in their second innings when the players shook hands at McLean Park. The Sri Lankans now head to Wellington for Saturday’s first test against New Zealand.
