The coronavirus pandemic has disrupted the cricketing calendars of country all over the globe. With India being the worst-affected country at present, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently had to suspend the Indian Premier League (IPL) Season 14 due to the virus outbreak in the tournament.
The fear of the ‘Indian variant’ of the virus has already seen many countries impose travel restrictions on flyers from India. Amid such a situation, the concerns of the Indian team’s tour of Sri Lanka are also rising. The virus has already wreaked havoc in India and the same variant has been found in a few other countries too. Over the last week or so, virus cases have been rising in Sri Lanka too, worrying Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) over the forthcoming assignment.
As per a report in InsideSport, SLC is concerned over the rising number of coronavirus cases in the Island nation but is hopeful of seeing the series against India taking place.
“Increase in Covid-19 cases are a big worry but we have successfully hosted England and others during Covid times and we are confident we will be able to host India as well, just keeping fingers crossed that cases don’t increase,” a senior official from SLC told the portal…
