Sri Lanka Cricket officials summoned before parliamentary committee – report

Sri Lanka Cricket officials Shammi Silva, Mohan de Silva and Ravin Wickremaratne

Nine public enterprises including Sri Lanka Cricket and the Batticaloa Campus & Hira Foundation have been summoned before the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) of Parliament next week to investigate their performances and progress, COPE Chairman Sunil Handunnetti said.

Officials of Sri Lanka Cricket will appear before the COPE on September 3 while officials of the Batticaloa Campus & Hira Foundation will appear on September 17.

The Parliament has recently authorized media coverage of the COPE proceedings, thereby enabling the public to have close scrutiny on public enterprises.

  1. Yes it is an ongoing comedy! It’s embarrassing that the man Harin is allowing SLC to continue its activities when so many allegations are floating around against these crooks. Having said that, the COPE committee needs some guidelines on how to conduct an inquiry. It looked like a teledrama instead of a formal enquirer. Some decorum is required at such proceedings to maintain integrity and credibility. Not sure if the chap was playing it up for the cameras.
