Sri Lanka coach Hathurusingha disappointed with World Cup performance

“I am very disappointed that we could not finish among the last four. My focus from the start was to get into the last four and take it from there. We planned a lot and a lot of things happened in between. Still, I tried to end up among the top four but that didn’t happen,” said Hathurusingha looking back on Sri Lanka’s failed World Cup campaign.

  1. Disappointing but expected and some may even say exceeded expectations. Beating England was a major triumph and a huge upset. Windies and Afgans should have been beaten and were but I wasn’t so sure going in. I think it’s a reasonable performance in terms of results but very disappointed with the batting. Mendis and Mathews scratched around at best while Thiri did what he does best, nothing. Dimuth was decent but never the match winner. I thought KJP was good but Avishka was the sensation but we had him on the bench over Thiri for 3 games. Cannot be a better illustration of having talent is one thing but getting the best of it is another.
