Sri Lanka white-ball Captain Dasun Shanaka welcomed the appointment of Mahela Jayawardene as Consultant for the first-round of the ICC T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
“I believe it is a huge advantage for us to have a coach in the calibre of Mahela Jayawardene. No other coach in Sri Lanka has the amount of experience that Mahela possesses at this moment,” Shanaka said before departing to Oman.
“The other advantage is that Mahela is already in the UAE coaching the Mumbai Indian side in the Indian Premier League,” Shanaka elaborated.
“So, as a team I think we will be able to get a great amount of backing from Mahela and his services will be of great value for us ahead of the World Cup,” Shanaka added.
Jayawardene will share his vast experience and provide invaluable strategic support for the players and management team during a 7-day period from October 16-23 when the team will play Namibia, Ireland, and the Netherlands as they seek to qualify for the Group Stages…
