Shanaka, Mathews among captains named for National Super League

Sri Lanka’s present white-ball Captain Dasun Shanaka and former skipper Angelo Mathews are among the five captains picked to lead the five teams in the newly formed cash-rich National Super League (NSL), which is due to commence this month.

Shanaka has been made captain of Colombo whose coach is Ruwin Peiris, and Mathews will lead Galle with Jehan Mubarak as the coach.

  1. Well done SLC for getting this underway and glad to see some good coaches assigned to the teams. Also glad to see Kamindu (and DDS) given a leadership role as we need to groom these players for the future. I just hope this doesn’t fizzle out like so many efforts to run this ‘premier’ tournament in the past. I am not sure if this already a requirement but premier tournament performance should result in national selection – that would add real weight to the event.
