Sri Lanka selectors opt for raw pace for South Africa tour

Uncapped fast bowler Dilshan Madusanka, 20, has been included in Sri Lanka’s training camp for their tour of South Africa.

The training activities of the national team which had been deferred temporarily for a second time due to the COVID-19 impact, is set to be kick started on 13 November by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), sources revealed.

In-house training programme is set to be conducted from 13 to 22 November at the Pallekele International Stadium premises, while it is to be confined to a 22-member squad. This particular training programme has been geared towards the upcoming two-Test tour to South Africa.

Out of the 23-member squad that was named for the postponed series against Bangladesh, Duvindu Thillakaratne, Lahiru Udara, Lakshan Sandakan and Kamindu Mendis have been omitted.

They have been replaced in the new training squad by Dasun Shanaka, Dushmantha Chameera, and 20-year-old rookie pacer Dilshan Madusanka respectively…
