Perera jumped 22 places in the batsmen’s rankings, and sat at No.65 with a career-best tally of 509 points, after amassing 240 runs in the three ODIs against New Zealand, including a riveting knock of 140 in just 74 deliveries in the second ODI in Mount Maunganui. Bowlers who made significant gains included Lasith Malinga, the veteran Sri Lanka fast bowler, at No.46 (up three places) and Lakshan Sandakan, the left-arm wrist-spinner, at No. 124 (up 14 places).
