Mumbai Indians coach Mahela Jayawardena reveals Lasith Malinga wanting Jasprit Bumrah to win the purple cap in IPL 2020.
Mahela Jayawardena does remember his words from 2019 about not caring about the Purple cap or Orange Cap but only the trophy. However, Lasith Malinga, who could not play for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020 for personal reasons, wanted Bumrah to win the purple one. Nevertheless, Jayawardena said he would take the title over those any day.
“Thank you for not taking it to the last ball [like in IPL 2019 final against CSK]. But remember we said that, I mean last year I said no Orange no Purple Cap but Boom [Bumrah], Mali [Malinga] wanted you to do that [win the Purple Cap]. Close Enough. But I’ll take this any day,” the 43-year old the MI camp after their victory.
