  1. Self-appointed to the position with a political backing, and now taken over the Team-manager’s-job too by force ( I believe ), he has already created immense pressure on players. He should be removed sooner than later, otherwise he will ruin our ability to force at least a one win against the other Teams, well managed by qualified professionals.
He has no qualification to talk so big about batting. Selections at any level is a professional & highly qualified inteligent batsman’s [ Rahul Dravid ] profession it is definitely not for [ impatient idiots] a reckless hitter’s job. He did severely criticize Chandimal’s leadership ability soon after appointing him as the captain for the recently-ended NZ tour even before the team embarked on that tour. That’s his way of building confidence in players. Pls see the caption below that I have written ealier.

  2. I think we need to discuss on batting issues or problems being faced by our batsmen playing in this WC rather than discussing on alternative players who missed the bus to the WC. Asantha is saying a lot on lack of confidence on our batters. True it is the reality why our batsmen have failed to deliver. But I think Asantha and our think tank (including the head coach) are missing one important point and that is the actual reason for the failures. Do we have a proper batting coach to guide our batsmen ?. What I heard is that Lewis is acting as a batting coach. Is he competent enough to work as a batting coach. Does he have any credentials (past experience as a good good batsmen ?), cos I have not heard about his name in the history records of test or ODI cricket. May be I am wrong but in that case some one can correct me and provide the information I am looking for. I feel that our batsmen have a very poor technique on batting and making basic mistakes in performing on fast, bouncy / seaming wickets without receiving any guidance from a batting coach to correct their mistakes. If you have listened to Sanga’s expert comments and his analysis on why our batters have offered poor shots it was very clear.

Also Asantha is making a big mistake by putting unwanted pressure on our players by making such comments on their confidence rather than helping them by offering proper guidance from a competent batting coach. His continuous presence with the team & criticizing on batsmen’s failures rather than helping them in a proper way (as explained) is not going to improve the situation I think.
