Lahiru Thirimanne joins Sri Lankan legends in Australia

Mulgrave Cricket Club has announced the signing of Sri Lanka’s Test opener Lahiru Thirimanne for their season.

In a statement, Mulgrave Cricket Club said, “Mulgrave Cricket Club are thrilled to announce the signing of current Sri Lankan international, Lahiru Thirimanne during his time off with his family.”

Former Sri Lanka skipper T.M. Dilshan will be captaining the side while Upul Tharanga will be a part of the side. Sri Lankan legend Sanath Jayasuriya is the senior head coach of the club while Anusha Samaranayake is the assistant coach.

  1. He’s a current Lankan cricketer – and a Test cricketer at that! Why is is he coming to Australia and playing club cricket here at the third tier? Is our domestic cricket structure so poor it’s better to play 3rd tier amateur level cricketers here in Australia (I have had friends play this tier and believe me when I say it’s amateur)… Bloody how bad has Sri Lanka’s domestic cricket got?!
