Hamstring injury rules out Wanindu Hasaranga for six weeks

Wanindu Hasaranga was reportedly set to make his Test debut on March 19 during the Sri Lanka v England series.

Wanindu Hasaranga’s promising start to his international career has suffered a major blow after the 22-year-old was ruled out for six weeks with a hamstring injury.

Hasaranga had been included in the Test squad to play against England alongisde left-arm orthodox spinner Lasith Embuldeniya but the selectors were forced to withdraw his name after he picked up the injury during the second T-20 International against West Indies at Pallekele on Friday.

Hasaranga’s all-round ability was one of the positives as Sri Lanka whitewashed West Indies 3-0 in the recent ODI series. He was named Player of the Series…

  1. What’s with the injuries guys, the man is 22 and a spinner! This is what happens when SLC are sleep – just unable to get the most of the available talent, in this case, unable to get the talent on the park!

    I understand injuries are part of sports but SL are dealing with more than their fair share due to not being prepared. Just look at the injuries in the last few weeks? Its a continuing trend due to poor preparation.
