Gunathilaka and Thirimanne solid in warm-up game

Opening batsman Danushka Gunathilaka and Lahiru Thirimanne shared an 116 run stand for the first wicket as Sri Lanka reached 160 for two at stumps on day two of their three day warm-up game against New Zealand XI at McLean Park in Napier, yesterday.

Gunathilaka, who made 83 off 77 balls with 12 fours and one six may have edged out Thirimanne, who made 45 in 83 ball with six boundaries, for the sole vacant opener’s slot. Regular opener and vice-captain Dimuth Karunaratne was rested for the game.
