Former U-19 Captain Passes Away at the age of Just 41

Former Sri Lanka Under- 19 and St. Thomas’ College captain Upekha Fernando has passed away at the age of 41.

Upekha Fernando is a former Sri Lankan first-class cricketer who played for the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) from 1997-98 to 2002-03.

He captained the Sri Lankan Under-19 team against India in 1998–99.

An all-rounder, he bowled right-arm off-cutters and batted right-handed, often opening the batting.

Upekha Fernando who was reportedly suffering from several health complications had died today.

Sri Lanka Cricket sources said that Upekha Fernando’s funeral will be held in Kandy tomorrow (28). (
