There is an interesting debate on social media these days asking whether Sri Lanka need to qualify for the T-20 World Cup that has been postponed due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Former Test cricketer and Manager of the national cricket team Charith Senanayake had asked the query on social media after the team improved their rankings over the last few months.
At the cut off date, Sri Lanka were below the relegation zone requiring them to play a qualifying round. However, since then the team has improved on the ranking and currently are placed eighth.
There is a possibility that the team could make further progress if they win more bilateral games.
