Dhananjaya de Silva’s all-round performance proves too good for SL U19s

The Mercantile Cricket Association’s premier 50-over tournament in its 27th edition commenced today with a lot of Sri Lanka Cricket’s blockbuster names in action. Out of the 7-participating team, 6 competed for their first win in the competition.

  1. It may be too late for the selectors to pick Dhananjaya for the Aussie Tour. I totally blame DDS for his poor performances as a specialist batsman in the recent ODI or T 20 team. Even for the WC he was selected purely for his off spin bowling at the expense of dropping a specialist batsman / batting all rounder. He never improved his batting during the last year in spite of getting opportunities to play in every international game SL played.

    Now that there is lot of Newbies like Bhanuka R, Shehan J, Oshada, Danushka all are much much better batsman than DDS. Plus he has to fight for his place with Vanidu, the Wonder Boy / X Factor in our future ODI / T 20 matches which will never happen at the way DDS is progressing in correcting his mistakes in batting.
