Dinesh Chandimal and Kusal Mendis played out a wicketless opening session on the fourth day to keep Sri Lanka hopes alive in the second Test in Christchurch on Saturday (December 29). Sri Lanka went to the break at 89 for 2, still 571 shy of the 660-run target given to them, as New Zealand threw several challenges at them.
